My doctor ordered a Beta HCG test, and I'm not familiar with it. What exactly is a Beta HCG test, and what does it tell us about pregnancy?

This might sound silly but i noticed my urine looks a bit darker these days and im in very early weeks. Just got curious if pregnancy changes the colour or its something else. Anyone observed this?
