Hi everyone, my period is slightly delayed this month and I'm wondering if I should take a pregnancy test. When is the right time to take one for the most accurate results?

Im pregnant and staying at my mom's place for now. She's gotten very strict and overprotective and thinks intimacy isnt safe at all. Doc said its fine in my case but how do i even talk to her about this without it getting awkward?
