We just took out winter clothes from storage and the whole cupboard smells of mothballs. The smell is really strong and now im worried if breathing it is ok in pregnancy. Anyone know about this?
Beta we never used those chemical balls, just dried neem leaves and a few cloves in the cupboard kept insects away nicely. During pregnancy the smell of mothballs can even make nausea worse. Stick to the natural things, they're safe and they work.
I'd avoid them honestly, the strong smell ones (naphthalene) are not great to breathe in, pregnant or not. I switched to neem leaves and cloves in my cupboards instead. No need to take chances with chemical fumes when there are safe options.
I removed all of these from my house the moment I got pregnant, the smell alone worried me. Better safe than sorry na. Just air out your cupboards and use natural stuff, dont keep breathing that chemical smell daily.
It's better to stay away from the strong chemical mothballs during pregnancy, the fumes aren't considered safe to inhale regularly. Use natural alternatives like cedar, neem or clove instead. If you've been around them a lot, mention it to your doctor, but mainly just switch to safer options.
