My job has rotational night shifts and now that im pregnant im wondering if i should ask to switch. Im about 10 weeks. Anyone here worked nights through pregnancy, how did it go?
Forget quora, ask ur own doctor. General view is occasional night shifts are manageable early on but constant nights + tiredness arent great later. I asked HR for day shift adjustment and it helped a lot.
Please discuss this with ur gynac directly. For some women with risk factors doctors advise stopping nights. Long standing hours and poor sleep arent ideal in pregnancy, so get a fitness opinion based on ur own case.
Beta ur body needs rest now more than ever. If night shifts are leaving u exhausted, do speak to ur manager and doctor about adjusting. Dont push urself too hard just to prove something at work.
I did night shifts in early pregnancy and honestly the disturbed sleep wore me out fast. My doctor told me to switch to day shifts if possible, especially in later months. If u cant, atleast nap properly in day and stay hydrated.
The main issue is rest and stress, not the night itself. If u can sleep well during the day and arent on ur feet all night, many manage fine in first half. As pregnancy grows, try shifting to days. Doctor opinion always best.
