Are placenta and uterus on same side during pregnancy?
Had my scan recently and the report mentioned placenta position which got me curious about how it all sits inside. Im 5 months now. Just trying to understand the anatomy a bit, is the placenta on the same side as the uterus or how does it work?
Yes the placenta develops on the inner wall of the uterus, so they are together. The position (anterior, posterior etc) is what the scan mentions. If you have any doubt about your report your gynac is the best to explain it.
Placenta is part of the uterus during pregnancy, it grows attached to its wall. The report just tells the position. As long as your doctor isnt worried about a low lying one, its all normal.
I got confused by this on my scan report too! mine said posterior and I panicked. doctor said its just the position on the uterus wall and totally fine. anyone else had anterior, did you feel kicks late?
The placenta is inside the uterus, it attaches to the uterus wall. It can be on the front (anterior), back (posterior), top or low. My scan said anterior and doc explained it just means it sat on the front wall, nothing to worry.
