Someone told me prunes help with constipation which i am struggling with a lot in this trimester. Before i start eating them daily i wanted to check if they are actually ok during pregnancy. Has anyone tried them for this?
Prunes are safe and honestly cheaper than fancy fibre supplements for the constipation problem. I kept a small pack and ate 2-3 when needed. Simple and works.
Yes prunes are fine and actually a lifesaver for constipation which is so common in pregnancy. Just a few a day, dont go overboard or you'll be running to loo. Worked great for me.
They are safe but prunes are sweet, so if you're watching sugar like I had to, keep the quantity small. Otherwise great for the fibre. I'd just mention it to your doc if you have any sugar concern.
My doctor actually suggested prunes when I complained about constipation, they have fibre and help things move. A small handful or some prune juice. Just keep it moderate and drink water along.
