Are scented candles and essential oils safe in pregnancy?
I love lighting candles and using a diffuser to relax in evenings, its kind of my de-stress thing. Now that im pregnant my friend said some oils are a no no. Anyone know which ones to avoid?
I worried about this too honestly. I switched to unscented candles just for peace of mind and only used very mild oils occasionally. If u feel dizzy or uneasy from any smell, better keep it away.
My doc said scented candles in moderation are usually ok but burn them in a ventilated room and avoid heavy fragrance. For essential oils she said a few like rosemary and clary sage are best skipped. Keep it light and you should be fine.
Honestly i just kept it simple, used candles rarely and a mild diffuser sometimes. Strong smells made my nausea worse anyway. Good ventilation is the main thing, dont breathe it in a closed room.
Dont stress too much about it yaar, occasional use with windows open is fine. Just skip the super strong oils and you are good. Your nose will probably reject anything strong anyway in pregnancy haha.
I used to love a mild lavender diffuser to relax, kept the room airy though. But some oils like clary sage are best avoided in pregnancy. Use light scents, ventilate well, and if anything triggers headache or nausea just stop.
