My period is 5 days late and the home strip showed a very faint line so im not fully sure. Doc asked me to get a blood test done, is that more accurate than the urine one? Just want to be confident before i tell anyone.
Both work but blood test (beta hcg) is the surest one. Best to just get the lab test done with your doctor's advice, then they repeat it after 48 hrs to see if number is rising properly.
Yes blood test is more accurate than urine one. It picks up hcg earlier so even if home test shows faint line, beta hcg blood test will confirm properly. I did it both times.
My gynac told me the beta hcg blood test can detect pregnancy even before missed period, around 8-10 days after conception. And the number tells how far along roughly. Urine test sometimes too early gives negative, blood test is more sensitive.
I was confused too between blood and urine test. Mine home test was faint so doc asked for blood beta hcg and that cleared everything. Is it costly though? mine was around 400-500.
Yes it does, but honestly home test first if u want to save money, only go for blood test if line is unclear or doc asks. Beta hcg also useful in early weeks to track.
