I have a tooth that's been paining badly and the dentist mentioned he might need an x ray. But im 5 months pregnant and got nervous about the radiation part. Did anyone get a dental x ray while pregnant?
I asked my dentist and gynac both about this. They said dental x rays are very low radiation and with a lead apron over the belly it's considered safe, but they usually prefer to wait or do only if really needed. Always tell the dentist you're pregnant first.
Yes but only if needed, and with the protective apron. I had a tooth issue in my second pregnancy and they did it carefully after informing my gynac. Don't hide your pregnancy from the dentist, that's the key thing.
From what I understand it's generally considered safe with proper shielding, but most dentists avoid it unless urgent during pregnancy. Best to inform both your dentist and gynac and let them decide together.
I'd always tell the dentist you're pregnant before anything. They take extra precautions then. For me they postponed non urgent stuff till after delivery. If it's an emergency they'll do it safely with the apron, but check with your doctor too.
