Ive had a fungal thing on one toenail for a while and now that im pregnant im worried whether it can affect the baby or my pregnancy in any way. Should i even be treating it right now? A bit confused.
I would always run skin and nail issues past my gynac during pregnancy, just to be safe with whatever is applied or taken. The infection itself is usually minor. It is the medicines you have to be careful about.
A nail fungal infection usually stays local and doesnt harm the baby, but the treatment is the tricky part. Some antifungal medicines are not advised in pregnancy. So show it to your doctor and let them pick a safe option, dont buy a cream on your own.
Honestly a nail fungus is not going to affect the baby directly. Keep the area clean and dry, and ask your doctor before using any antifungal. They will tell you what is safe right now.
