I took a home test and it showed positive, but my periods are super irregular so im a little confused about the dates. At 8 weeks can it still show wrong somehow? Just want to know before i go for the scan.
At 8 weeks hcg is high, so a clear positive is very reliable, false results are rare by then. If you ever doubt it, a blood test and a scan confirm everything. Usually 8 weeks is well past the unreliable stage.
I retested mine like three times because I was so anxious, but at that stage it was definitely accurate. If the lines confuse you, just do a blood test for peace of mind. That settled my overthinking.
My doctor said false negatives at 8 weeks are unusual unless the test was done wrong or expired. By then a scan can already show the baby's heartbeat. So if you're getting confusing results, go straight for a scan to be sure.
