Can a pregnancy test be wrong negative?

I have all the symptoms, nausea sore breasts and period is 5 days late, but the home kit showed negative. Im so confused now. Can it actually be wrong and i should retest later? Anyone faced this?

Yes, false negatives are quite common, mostly from testing too early before hCG builds up, or using diluted urine. My doc said if your period is still missing despite a negative, retest after 3-4 days or do a blood test. The blood test is the most reliable confirmation.

Absolutely it can. With my second the early test said no, but I knew something was up and retested, came positive. Use morning urine and dont test before the missed period. If unsure, blood test settles it.

This literally happened to me, negative first then positive a few days later. I was so confused and a little upset honestly. Did anyone else get this? Turned out I just tested too soon.
