Can a urinary tract infection test detect pregnancy?
Went to lab for a UTI test and now im wondering ki kya that same test can also show if im pregnant? Period is also a bit late so my mind is going everywhere. Anyone knows?
No, they are different. Don't waste money getting a UTI test done if you just want to check for pregnancy. A simple 50-rupee Prega News kit from the pharmacy is what you need.
According to what my doctor explained, a UTI test checks for leukocytes and nitrites, while a pregnancy test looks for the hCG hormone. So a UTI test will never show if you are pregnant. You need a standard hCG urine card.
Haha, I wish one test could do both! But no, UTI test checks for infection, not the baby hormone. You'll have to buy a separate pregnancy kit, my dear.
My grandmother used to say any urine test is same, but doctor explained that UTI tests only check for bacteria. You must use a home pregnancy test kit to check if you are pregnant.
No dear, a UTI test only looks for infection or bacteria in the urine. For pregnancy, you need a proper pregnancy test kit that specifically detects the hCG hormone. They are two totally different things.
I know how stressful it is when you are hoping for a positive and trying to figure out these tests. But a UTI test won't help you find out if you're pregnant. Please get a proper pregnancy test kit to ease your mind.
