Can antibiotics give you a positive pregnancy test?
So i was on a course of antibiotics for a throat infection and around same time my test came positive. Now im wondering can the medicine mess up the result and give false positive? Or am i overthinking this.
No, antibiotics dont affect the test since it only detects the hcg hormone. My doctor confirmed only certain fertility injections with hcg can cause a false positive, not regular antibiotics. So your result should be genuine.
I worried about this exact thing because I was on antibiotics too, ended up googling at midnight. Turns out they have nothing to do with the result. Retest in the morning to put your mind at ease.
Nope, antibiotics wont change your test. The strip reads pregnancy hormone, nothing else. If you got a positive, it is most likely real, take another in a day or two to confirm.
