i was on bp medication before planning and im not sure if the type im taking is safe now that i think im pregnant. i will definitely talk to my doctor before continuing anything, just wanted to understand more. anyone been in a similar spot?
I wouldnt want to guess on medicines, this is genuinely something to ask your doctor directly and quickly. I know BP meds get changed during pregnancy for safety. Please dont rely on community advice for this one, get a proper medical opinion.
Please be careful with this one. I had BP issues and my doctor specifically stopped my ARB type medicine as soon as we were planning pregnancy because they are not considered safe for the baby. Do not take it on your own, talk to your doctor urgently to switch to a pregnancy safe BP medicine.
My gynac told me that ARBs and ACE inhibitors are generally not recommended during pregnancy, they prefer other BP medicines that are safer for the baby. This is really a doctor decision, please dont adjust or take any BP medicine without your obgyn confirming.
From what I know ARBs are usually avoided in pregnancy and doctors switch you to a safer BP medication instead. If you are on one, dont stop suddenly either, just contact your doctor right away so they change it properly.
This is a question only your doctor should answer for you, because BP medicines in pregnancy need careful selection. ARBs are typically avoided and replaced with pregnancy approved options. Book a visit and discuss your exact prescription with your gynac soon.
