Been having a really bad cough for almost a week and ascoril is what i usually take. But im 14 weeks pregnant now so im hesitant to take anything on my own. Did anyone check with doc about cough syrups?
Cough during pregnancy is so annoying, I feel you. But for syrups it's really a doctor's call, not something to decide ourselves. Mine suggested warm water with honey for mild cough and a safe medicine when needed.
I won't comment on the specific medicine since I'm not a doctor and pregnancy is sensitive. What I can say is when I had a cough, a quick call to my gynac sorted it with something safe. Pls do that, it's worth it.
Some cough syrups have ingredients not recommended in pregnancy, so this is definitely a do-not-self-medicate situation. Your doctor will pick a safe one for your trimester. For mild cough, warm fluids and steam helped me while I waited to see her.
Please dont take any cough syrup on your own during pregnancy, some are not advised. When I had a bad cough my doctor gave me a safe alternative. Just call ur gynac, they'll prescribe something suitable for you.
