This thought keeps coming to my mind, maybe im overthinking. Im 6 months pregnant and just wondering if any scan or test can tell about autism before the baby is born. Just trying to understand, not panicking.
I know the worry, but this isnt something the scans can tell beforehand. Try not to let fear take over your pregnancy. Talk to your doctor about your concerns, they can put your mind at ease.
Honestly from what my doctor explained, there is no way to detect autism during pregnancy itself. The usual tests look at chromosomes and physical development. If you are anxious about it, the best step is a proper chat with your doctor or a genetic counsellor.
My gynac told me autism cannot be diagnosed before birth, the routine scans and tests check for other things, not this. There is no prenatal test for it. If you have specific worries, a genetic counsellor or your doctor can explain what scans actually screen for.
