I have a bad throat infection and someone at home suggested this medicine which i had taken before. But im 6 weeks pregnant now so im scared to take anything on my own. Planning to call my doctor, just wanted to know if anyone was prescribed it during pregnancy.
From what i know it is used in pregnancy in specific cases, but the doctor weighs it depending on what infection you have. Dont pop it because someone else took it. A quick call to your gynac will sort this out properly.
Doctors do prescribe it in pregnancy for certain infections when needed, but please dont take it on your own. Antibiotics during pregnancy must come from your doctor only. Call your gynac, tell the symptoms, and let them decide.
Please dont self medicate this. Even if its considered relatively safe, the right call depends on your situation and dose. I was actually given azithromycin by my doctor once during pregnancy, but only after she checked me. Ring your doctor first.
It is sometimes prescribed in pregnancy, so its not automatically off limits. But what is safe for one person at one stage may not be right for another. I really wouldnt take any antibiotic without my gynac saying so. Please get a proper consult.
