Can being active during pregnancy cause early labor?
Im 28 weeks and still doing all my housework, walking a lot, climbing stairs etc. My MIL keeps saying im doing too much and baby will come early. Is there any truth to this or is staying active fine?
Normal activity and gentle exercise actually help, they dont cause early labor in a healthy pregnancy. I did walks and prenatal yoga that my doctor approved. The key is doctor-approved and not overdoing heavy stuff.
My doctor told me regular moderate exercise reduces complications and doesn't trigger early labor in a normal pregnancy. She did warn against heavy weights and contact activities. So safe activity yes, but get the green light from your own doctor first.
Staying active is good yaar, I worked and walked till the end both times. What you should avoid is very heavy lifting or extreme exhaustion. If you have a high risk pregnancy though, follow whatever ur gynac says.
I was on my feet a lot at work and my gynac said it was fine as long as I rested when tired and stayed hydrated. Listen to ur body, sit when you need to. Heavy strain is the only thing to avoid.
In my case the doctor advised me to take it easy because of my history, so it really depends on the individual. For most women moderate activity is safe and even helpful. Please check with your gynac about what level is right for you.
