Can betadine be used on vaginal pregnancy stiches?

Delivered 5 days back and got stitches down there. MIL is telling me to clean with betadine to avoid infection but i wasnt sure if its safe for that area. did anyone use it on their stitches? pls share

I had a C-section so different stitches, but for any wound care please follow exactly what the hospital told you. Don't put anything on the stitches on your own, ask them.

Please check with your doctor before using betadine there, the stitch area is sensitive and they may want a specific method. If you notice swelling, pus or bad smell, go in to get it seen.

After my normal delivery the nurses guided me on cleaning the stitches and they told me what to use, I just followed that. Best to call your hospital and confirm before applying anything.
