There is a history of an eye condition in my husbands family so im a little worried. Im in my 2nd trimester now, can the scans pick up something like blindness in the baby? wanted to ask before my next visit.
This depends on what exactly youre asking, the babys eyesight or your own vision. Either way its something for your doctor, possibly a specialist, to answer properly. Genetic counselling or a detailed scan may be suggested if theres family history.

If youre worried about your own vision during pregnancy, please dont ignore it. I had sudden blurriness and they checked my BP urgently because vision changes can be linked to high blood pressure in pregnancy. Any sudden vision trouble, call your doctor right away.
Im not sure about detecting it honestly, this is really a doctor question. From my side, the scans checked the baby thoroughly but the doctor never claimed they could fully confirm eyesight. Better to ask your specialist directly.
If you mean detecting eye or vision problems in the baby before birth, my doctor said scans can sometimes pick up certain structural eye issues but they cant confirm whether a baby will see normally. Many things are only assessed after birth. Worth asking your gynac exactly what your concern is.
