My beta hcg came back positive but i dont have any symptoms at all, so a part of me is doubting it. Just wondering how reliable these blood tests actually are or if they can show wrong result somehow.
Blood tests are very accurate, more so than urine kits, but no test is 100 percent in rare cases. Testing too early or certain medical conditions can occasionally affect results. If something doesnt add up, your doctor can repeat it or scan to confirm.
My doctor said the beta hCG blood test is one of the most reliable, and a false result is uncommon. If results are borderline, they repeat it after 48 hours to see if the levels rise as expected. So a single odd value isnt the final word, the trend matters.
It is rare for a blood test to be wrong, but if your symptoms and the result dont match, mention it to your gynac. They might retest or do a scan for clarity. Best not to rely on just one test in confusing situations.
