Im 22 weeks and caught a bad chest infection, doc said bronchitis. The coughing is so much it hurts my belly and now im worried if it can affect the baby inside. Will ask my gynac too but wanted to know if others went thru this.
A cough and chest infection usually wont harm baby if treated, but it does need a doctor to manage it safely. Dont take random cough meds. Rest, fluids and a proper checkup are the way.
I would have worried a lot too honestly. But the main thing is to see the doctor early and not self treat. They will pick safe options, try to stay calm and rest.
Please dont take chest infections lightly in pregnancy, get it treated properly by your doctor. I had a bad chest issue and my gynac coordinated my care carefully. Treated well, baby was fine, but dont delay seeing them.
