Doc started me on calcium recently and since then I feel like throwing up after taking it. Is this a common thing or just me? im in my 5th month. will mention to gynac on next visit also.
Actually, my calcium pills used to trigger my nausea during my office hours, which was very annoying. My gynac advised me to shift the dose to right after dinner before sleeping. It was a practical fix that totally stopped the vomiting, try doing that!
I faced a lot of acidity and vomiting with calcium pills, and since I also had to manage my thyroid medication timings, it was a mess. My doctor adjusted my schedule during my regular checkup so the pills wouldn't clash. Please discuss this in your next follow-up with your doctor.
Due to my sensitive stomach and PCOS history, my calcium tablets definitely made me feel quite nauseous. I avoided changing the brand on my own and simply asked my doctor about it. She suggested taking them right after a heavy meal, which helped a lot.
Yes beta, those thick calcium tablets can sometimes feel very heavy on the stomach and cause vomiting. Try taking them with a glass of water after eating your food. If it still makes you vomit, tell your doctor and they will give you a lighter one.
From my experience, some brands of calcium are harder to digest and can make you throw up. I switched to a different brand after checking with my doctor, and it made a huge difference. Don't stop taking them though, as baby needs that calcium for bone growth!
