Can cauliflower be eaten during pregnancy ayurveda?
We follow ayurveda thoda bit at home and gobi is my favourite sabzi. But saas said in pregnancy some veggies should be avoided as per ayurveda. Is cauliflower one of those or is it fine?
Look, there is no need to completely ban cauliflower unless it makes you uncomfortable. Just cook it properly with a pinch of hing (asafoetida) and ajwain to cut down the gas. It's a great veggie, just don't eat it raw in salads.
I have always been careful with cruciferous veggies like cauliflower due to my PCOS history, as they can sometimes affect thyroid if eaten raw. In Ayurveda, it's known to increase gas, so I'd suggest cooking it thoroughly with digestive spices. Just have it in moderation and see how your body reacts.
Cauliflower is a very affordable and healthy vegetable, so there's no need to replace it with expensive exotic veggies. Just wash it thoroughly in warm saltwater to remove any worms, and cook it with simple kitchen spices like jeera and hing. It is perfectly fine for your pocket and your health!
After my C-section, my digestion was super slow, and even during pregnancy, cauliflower used to cause a lot of gas. According to Ayurveda, it is considered 'vaata' heavy, which means it can cause bloating. If you eat it, make sure to cook it well with ginger and hing to help with digestion.
I actually love gobi parathas, but lately I get so bloated after eating cauliflower, is anyone else facing this in their second trimester? I read somewhere that Ayurveda says it causes wind in the stomach. Maybe I should try adding more ginger next time.
