Can citalopram cause a false negative pregnancy test?
I'm currently taking citalopram and I took a home pregnancy test which came back negative. My periods are late, so I'm wondering if this medication could have affected the result. Can citalopram cause a false negative?
I always do light yoga to manage my stress during these times. But regarding citalopram, it's best to talk to both your psychiatrist and gynac about your pregnancy plans.
I am also planning my pregnancy right now and had a similar doubt. My doctor said medications like citalopram don't change your hCG levels, but do let your doctor know you are trying to conceive.
My kid is a toddler now but I remember worrying about everything. Honestly, citalopram doesn't affect hCG levels, so a false negative is probably just because you tested too early.
From what I know, pregnancy tests only look for the hCG hormone in your urine. Citalopram shouldn't cause a false negative, so maybe try testing with your first morning pee.
Actually, citalopram doesn't interfere with the pregnancy hormone. Instead of buying expensive tests again and again, just wait for a week after your missed period to get an accurate result.
Oh god, I'm so tired in my 9th month right now, but I can tell you citalopram won't mess with your test. It's usually just dilute urine or testing too early that causes a false negative!
