i have a bunch of clearblue ovulation strips left over and im out of pregnancy ones. Stupid question maybe but can these detect pregnancy too or totally different thing? Dont want to waste them.
You can technically get a positive on an ovulation test if you are pregnant because the hormones are similar, but it’s definitely not accurate. I’d suggest buying a regular pregnancy kit for a clear, reliable yes or no. All the best to you!
I remember asking my mom about this when we were trying, and she gently told me to just wait and do a proper test. Ovulation kits are meant to track your fertile days, not pregnancy. My dad went and got me a real pregnancy kit from the local chemist instead.
I actually tried this once because I ran out of pregnancy kits and panicked when the ovulation test came positive! But my doctor told me that while LH and hCG hormones are similar, ovulation kits are not reliable for pregnancy. Just buy a proper pregnancy kit to be sure.
With my PCOS, my LH levels were always high, so ovulation tests were already tricky for me. Using them for pregnancy detection is really not recommended as it can easily give a false positive. Stick to a standard home pregnancy test to be safe.
When I was hoping for my first baby, I felt so desperate to know that I used a leftover ovulation test. It did show a dark line, but I felt so unsure and anxious until I did a real pregnancy test. Please use a proper pregnancy kit for peace of mind, sweetie.
