Can constipation be one of the symptoms of pregnancy?
My period is a few days late and I've been super constipated this whole week, which is unusual for me. Im trying not to read too much into it but mind keeps wandering. Is this actually an early pregnancy thing?
I have been reading up a lot since we are trying to conceive, and many women mention constipation as an early sign. It happens because of hormonal changes right after conception. I hope you find some gentle relief soon.
It definitely is a symptom, mainly due to progesterone hormones and iron tablets. Since I had gestational diabetes, I couldn't eat high-sugar fruits, so I relied on green leafy vegetables and salads for fiber. Make sure you don't skip your veggies.
I totally understand how uncomfortable and stressful this is, I used to worry if straining would affect the baby. Don't worry, the baby is completely safe. Just focus on high-fiber food and speak to your doctor if it becomes too painful.
Oh my god, yes, constipation was actually my very first symptom and I got so anxious thinking I was pushing too hard! Please drink tons of water and eat oats or papaya if your doctor allows. Don't take any over-the-counter laxatives without asking your gynac first!
Yes, constipation is very common during pregnancy and even after delivery, especially if you have a C-section. Drinking warm water and eating prunes helped me get my digestion back on track gently. Try to avoid straining as much as possible.
Yes, it is a very common early sign because pregnancy hormones slow down digestion. Just try to eat more fiber-rich food and drink warm water. Take care of yourself.
