Can constipation cause weight gain during pregnancy?
Been really constipated since last few weeks and the scale is also showing more than expected. Now im wondering if both are connected ya its just normal pregnancy weight. Anyone else felt this?
Oh yes, I remember feeling so heavy and bloated during my pregnancy because of this. Once my digestion cleared up, that extra 'weight' vanished, so don't stress over the scale.
I completely understand how frustrating it is to see the weight shoot up when you are already feeling uncomfortable and anxious. It's just bloating and temporary water weight from constipation, it will settle down.
For me, whenever I had severe constipation, my weight would temporarily show 1-2 kgs more on the scale. It used to go down immediately after a good bowel movement, so I just drank lots of warm water.
It doesn't cause actual fat gain, but yes, it leads to water retention and waste buildup which shows on the weighing scale. Drink plenty of water and eat high-fiber foods to help clear it.
Let's be real, constipation causes extreme bloating which makes you look and feel heavier. Focus on high fiber foods and walking, the scale will normalise.
Haha, well it definitely makes you feel like you've gained 5 kgs in a single day! It's mostly just temporary bloating and stool weight, so don't worry.
While bloating from constipation is very common, please check with your gynac once if you are suddenly gaining a lot of weight. Sometimes high BP or swelling can also cause sudden weight gain, so better to be safe.
