Can cystic fibrosis be prevented during pregnancy?
There is a history of this in my husbands family so im a little tense about it. Im 8 weeks now. Is there anything we can do or test for early on? wanted to know if anyone here has gone through this.
This is really something to discuss directly with your gynac, especially if it runs in the family. They can advise the right screening. Please don't rely on general info for something like this.
From what my doctor explained, cystic fibrosis is genetic, so it is not something you cause or prevent by lifestyle. There is carrier screening for couples and prenatal tests if there is family history. Best to discuss genetic counselling with your gynac.
It is inherited, so prevention isn't really the right word. What helps is testing both partners if there is any family history, my friend did this before planning. Your doctor can refer you for genetic counselling.
