My grandmother keeps telling me to eat dates daily, says it helps later during delivery. Im in my second trimester now. Just wanted to check is it safe to have them regularly or only towards the end?
Dates are healthy but they are high in natural sugar, so with my GD i had to be careful and limit them. If your sugar is normal, a couple a day is lovely for iron and energy. Either way, check with your doctor about how many suit you.
Beta dates are wonderful, full of iron and natural energy, we always gave them to expecting mothers. Many elders say eating a few in the last weeks helps with delivery. Just keep it to a few a day since they're quite sweet, and ask your doctor if you have any sugar issue.
We ate dates throughout, my mother soaked them overnight and i had two each morning. So good for energy and they really helped my constipation. Lovely fruit, just moderate the amount if your doctor has flagged sugar.
I'm all for natural foods and dates were my go-to sweet fix instead of mithai. Iron, fibre, energy, all in one little fruit. Keep it a few a day, and if you've any sugar concern, your doc should guide the number.
My gynac actually encouraged a few dates daily in the last month, she mentioned some studies link it to easier cervical ripening. Plus they're great for iron and constipation. She just said watch the quantity because of natural sugars.
