theres a hearing issue running in my husbands family so this has been on my mind. im 16 weeks now. just want to know if any scan or test during pregnancy can pick this up, will ask my doc too.
Generally hearing isnt assessed during pregnancy itself. The newborn hearing test after birth is how it is usually detected early. If you have a particular reason to worry, like family history, your doctor is the right person to advise what tests make sense.
This is really a question for your gynac or a specialist, as it depends on your specific case and family history. Routine pregnancy scans dont usually check hearing, but babies are screened after birth. Please discuss your concern with the doctor for proper guidance.
Routine pregnancy ultrasounds dont test hearing as such. My babies both got a hearing screen done in the first days after birth at the hospital. If you are anxious about it, raise it with your gynac, they can tell you if any extra check is needed in your case.
From what my doctor explained, hearing is not usually tested before birth in routine scans. Newborns get a hearing screening test soon after delivery, which is the standard way to catch it early. If there is family history, do mention it to your gynac so they can guide you.
