I was diagnosed with disc problem in my back before and now we are planning a baby. Im a little worried how it will be to carry the extra weight for 9 months. Anyone here had disc issues and went through pregnancy?
Having a disc issue doesnt mean you cant have a healthy pregnancy, but the extra weight and shifting posture can make back pain worse. A lot of women manage with physio approved exercises and good support pillows. Definitely tell your gynac upfront so they plan for it.
A friend of mine had back disc trouble and managed her pregnancy fine with physio and a good chair plus pregnancy pillow. The practical bit is to plan early with your doctor, especially around delivery options. Don't push through severe pain, get it assessed.
It can affect comfort more than anything, back pain often increases during pregnancy and a disc condition can add to it. The right thing is to inform your obstetrician early so they can coordinate care, maybe with a physiotherapist. Self managing a spine issue isnt ideal.
This is really one for your doctor to guide you on, ideally your gynac and an ortho or physio together. Pregnancy weight and posture changes can strain the back more, so a managed plan is important. Please dont rely on general tips here, get a proper consult.
