Can dehydration cause false negative pregnancy test?
I took the test in evening and it came negative but my period is still not here. That day i had barely drank water the whole day. So can less water make the result wrong? wondering if i should retest in morning.
Dehydration itself won't cause a false negative, but drinking too much water to try and pee can dilute your urine, which might cause a negative result. I always suggest using the very first morning urine for the most accurate result. It worked perfectly for me.
I know how anxious and fragile we feel when waiting for these test results. Dehydration won't cause a negative, but please make sure you are drinking enough water for your own health. If your period is delayed and the tests are confusing, a beta hCG blood test at the lab is the safest option.
Stop stressing over home kits if they are giving confusing results. Dehydration doesn't cause false negatives, but testing too early does. Wait for two more days and test with your first morning pee, or just go to a lab and get a proper blood test done.
Actually, dehydration usually makes your urine very concentrated, which increases the hCG concentration and makes a positive line clearer. Diluted urine from drinking too much water is what causes false negatives. Try testing again tomorrow morning with a fresh mind.
Oh, I always thought dehydration might mess up the test somehow! This is so helpful to know because I'm planning to test next week. Keeping my fingers crossed for you, hope u get your positive result soon!
Don't stress yourself out, dear. Dehydration won't give you a false negative, but being dehydrated is not good for your health anyway. Drink some coconut water, rest, and try testing again in a couple of days. Everything will work out, don't worry.
Scientifically, dehydration concentrates your urine, which should actually make hCG easier to detect. My doctor explained that false negatives are usually caused by testing too early or irregular ovulation. If you missed your period, check with your gynac for a blood test to be 100% sure.
I just went through this a few months ago! Diluted urine is the actual culprit behind false negatives because the pregnancy hormone gets washed out. Try to test first thing in the morning when you wake up, and dont drink a lot of water right before testing.
