My gynac mentioned some screening tests in my next visit and one was for down syndrome. This is all new to me, can it really be picked up before birth and how reliable is it? a bit anxious tbh.
Yes, my doctor explained there are screening tests like the double marker and NT scan in early pregnancy, and NIPT blood test too. If those show risk, they suggest further confirmatory tests. She said it is best to do them at the right weeks, so plan with your gynac.
Haan there are proper screening tests for this in the first and second trimester. Both my pregnancies I did the markers and scans on time. Just talk to your gynac about which ones you need.
At my hospital they clearly explained the screening schedule and the NIPT option. I just asked the staff and doctor directly and they booked everything in order. Best to get this info straight from your hospital.
