Its summer and im craving a chilled cold drink so badly yaar. My MIL keeps saying it will harm the baby and cause cold. Is there actually any truth to this or can i have it once in a while?
Uff, the cravings, right? Especially in summer! My doc said a little bit of cold drink, like a small glass of fresh juice from the fridge or even a sip of soda sometimes, is okay. Just don't go chugging a whole liter of fizzy stuff. With twins, I had double the cravings AND double the caution, so everything in super small quantities only!
My doctor actually said that it's generally okay to have cold drinks in moderation, especially if they are non-caffeinated and low in sugar. The concern isn't really the cold temperature itself, but the ingredients like high sugar content, artificial colors, and caffeine. So a small, occasional sip of something like Nimbu Paani or fresh juice is usually fine, but avoid sugary aerated drinks.
You can drink cold drinks in moderation, dear. Just try to avoid anything with too much sugar or artificial stuff. Water, fresh juices, or buttermilk are always better options. It's okay to have a little treat sometimes, but don't overdo it. Listen to your body.
Haan na, garmi mein toh cold drink ka mann karta hi hai! Mostly, it's fine if it's not too much, and if it's like a fresh juice or nimbu paani. Avoid those super sugary, fizzy ones, they are not good for you or baby. Thoda control karna padega, but ekdum avoid karna difficult hai, ho na?
Please be very, very careful with everything you consume during pregnancy. It's not just about coldness, but also what's *in* the cold drink – too much sugar, artificial sweeteners, caffeine. For me, after my past experience, I avoided anything that wasn't fresh, homemade, or explicitly doctor-approved. It's better to be safe than sorry, even with small things.
