My mom made sambar with lots of drumstick today and MIL stopped me saying its not good in pregnancy. Im in my 2nd trimester. Honestly confused now, is there really any problem with it or just one of those random restrictions?
Yes drumstick in sambar or curry is fine and we eat it a lot here. My mom said it is full of iron and calcium, good for expecting mothers. Just have it cooked and in normal food amounts.
Beta the drumstick vegetable cooked in food is good and nutritious. But the leaves and bark in large medicinal amounts elders used to avoid in early months. Cooked sabzi is perfectly fine, just dont take it as a tonic.
The drumstick veg is healthy and totally fine cooked normally, it has iron and good nutrients. Just dont consume the leaves in huge concentrated amounts. As a regular sabzi, no issue at all.
