We eat pork at home often and now that im expecting im not sure if i should keep having it. Mostly worried about how well it needs to be cooked. Is it safe in pregnancy if properly cooked? pls share
Pork is okay only if it's fully cooked through, no pink inside, and from a clean source. Undercooked pork is risky in pregnancy. So if u eat it, make sure it's well done and fresh, not half cooked or processed cold cuts.
If u do eat it, buy from a clean trusted place even if slightly pricier, and cook it fully, not worth a stomach infection and extra doctor visits in pregnancy. Well cooked and in moderation is the safe way.
In our home we eat pork, and during pregnancy I just made sure it was cooked really well and fresh. Avoid the raw and leftover types. If u have any doubt about ur diet, a word with ur doctor settles it.
My doctor said the concern with pork is parasites and bacteria if it's raw or undercooked, so it has to be cooked thoroughly. Also avoid the processed and cured ones like ham and sausages too much. Properly cooked pork in moderation is fine.
