Can eating ice cubes during pregnancy harm the baby?
Im in my second trimester and lately i crave chewing on ice all day, its so weird. My mom says band karo it will affect baby. Is it actually harmful or just a normal craving thing?
Ice cubes won't harm the baby directly, but chewing them can damage your teeth enamel. If you are having severe cravings, just get a quick CBC blood test done to check your iron levels, it saves time and worries.
Actually, even I used to munch on ice cubes like crazy during my summers, yaar! But my gynac said it's usually because of low iron. Get your reports checked once, but otherwise, normal ice won't hurt the baby.
Chewing ice cubes won't directly hurt the baby, but it is often a classic sign of anemia or iron deficiency. It's best to discuss this craving with your doctor so they can check your blood levels.
Please tell your doctor about this craving. I had complications due to severe anemia which started with me wanting to chew ice constantly, so it is always better to get your blood checked early.
I keep reading about these weird cravings like ice cubes and mud! Is it actually safe to eat ice cubes, or does it mean something is missing in your diet? I'm trying to learn all this before I get pregnant.
Beta, eating too much cold things can give you a throat infection or cough, and taking medicines in pregnancy is not good. If you are having dry throat, try having warm water or some roasted fennel instead of ice.
