Can ectopic pregnancy be detected by pregnancy kit?
My home test came positive but ive been having some one sided pain on my lower belly which is making me uneasy. Planning to get a scan done with my gynac soon. Just wanted to know does the kit even show if its ectopic or only a scan can tell?
No beta, the kit can't catch that, only your doctor with a scan can. Once you get a positive, book that first appointment soon so they can check everything is fine. If there's sharp pain or bleeding meanwhile, go in immediately.
A home kit will show positive but it cannot tell you if it's ectopic, that's the scary part. I had a friend whose kit was positive but it was ectopic, only the scan and doctor caught it. If you have positive test plus one sided pain or spotting, please rush to the gynac, don't wait.
My doctor explained the kit only detects hcg, so it'll read positive in ectopic too. To confirm where the pregnancy is, they need a scan and sometimes repeat hcg blood tests. So a positive kit is just step one, the early scan is what actually confirms it's in the right place.
I went through a loss before so I'm extra careful saying this gently. The kit won't tell you, please don't rely on it for that. Severe pain on one side, dizziness or unusual bleeding needs urgent doctor attention. Sending you strength, get that early scan done.
