Last year i had an ectopic and one tube was removed. Now we are thinking of trying again but im really scared it will happen a second time. Anyone here who had ectopic before and went on to have a normal pregnancy? pls share.
I had an ectopic and yes my doctor told me the chance of it happening again is a bit higher, but it's still not very high overall. The important thing she said was to get an early scan next time the moment the test is positive, so they can check the location early. Beta don't carry this fear alone. It can happen again but it usually doesn't, and these days they catch it so early. Just make sure your doctor knows your history from day one of the next pregnancy and you'll be monitored closely.
I understand this fear so much. After one ectopic the worry never fully goes away. From what my doctor explained it can repeat but most women go on to have a normal pregnancy after. Early monitoring is everything, you won't be left to wonder. Sending you a hug.
My gynac explained that if a tube was damaged or removed, the risk on that side changes, and previous ectopic does raise the odds a little. But she stressed that early beta hCG tracking plus a 6 week scan catches it in time. So it's not a definite repeat, it's just something they watch carefully.
This is such a tender question. I haven't had ectopic but I lost a pregnancy and the what-if next time feeling is heavy. Please lean on your doctor for the real risk in your case, they can actually look at your reports. Be gentle with yourself.
