Can exercise cause miscarriage in early pregnancy?
Just found out im pregnant, around 6 weeks. I used to do regular workouts and now im scared to even walk fast. My family says rest fully but I feel that cant be right. Did anyone continue exercising in early days?
I'll be honest, after my loss I was terrified of moving at all. My doctor reassured me that gentle activity didnt cause it. But she also told me to take it slow given my history. Every pregnancy is different so please go by what your own doctor says for you.
Please ask your gynac first, especially in early weeks. Normal gentle walking is usually okay for most, but if you have any bleeding, cramping or a history of complications, your doctor may tell you to rest. I learned to never decide this on my own.
I was a gym person before and got really scared too. My doc said light stuff like walking and prenatal yoga is fine but no heavy lifting, no jumping, no intense workouts in first trimester. She basically said don't start anything new without asking her.
My gynac explained that miscarriages in early weeks are mostly due to chromosomal issues, not because of normal exercise. She cleared me for walking and light yoga but said stop immediately if any spotting or pain. So gentle yes, but always with doctor's green signal.
Normal moderate exercise does not cause miscarriage, that's an old fear. What you do should match what your body was already used to. But early pregnancy, keep it gentle and clear it with your gynac. Don't suddenly go heavy.
