I had a small fibroid before getting pregnant and my gynac is keeping a watch on it. Im 18 weeks now and reading random stuff online is freaking me out. Did anyone have a fibroid through pregnancy, were u okay?
I dont want to overclaim because I had PCOS not fibroids, but a friend had a fibroid pregnancy and was fine with regular scans. The key seemed to be close monitoring. Definitely let your doctor track it na, dont rely on us.
Try not to scare yourself with the word rupture, its rare. Many women carry healthy pregnancies with fibroids. Just keep your scan appointments and if you ever get sharp continuous pain, call your doctor that same day.
I had a fibroid during pregnancy and got worried about exactly this. Doctor said rupture is quite rare but the fibroid can sometimes degenerate and cause pain. Please get your size monitored by your gynac and report any sudden severe pain immediately.
It can happen but its not common, and a lot depends on the size and position. This is really one of those things where general advice doesnt help much, your gynac watching it through pregnancy is the right way.
From what my doctor explained, actual rupture is uncommon, more often a fibroid outgrows its blood supply and causes pain, called red degeneration. It was managed with rest and meds for me. Best to ask your doctor about your specific fibroid.
