I was diagnosed with gallstones last year and now im 11 weeks pregnant. getting a bit worried whether it can cause problems during these months. planning to ask my gynac but wanted to hear from anyone whos been through this.
It can, but it doesnt mean it will harm the baby directly. The main thing is managing the pain and inflammation. Best to discuss with both your gynac and maybe a surgeon so they decide the safest plan for you. Dont self manage this one.
I had gallstones during my second pregnancy and the pain was no joke, right side upper tummy after fatty food. It can cause issues if it gets inflamed so pls dont ignore it. My doctor monitored it closely and managed with diet, please get yours checked properly.
My gynac told me gallstones are actually a bit more common in pregnancy because of the hormones slowing the gallbladder. Most of the time they just watch it and ask u to avoid oily fried food. Surgery is usually avoided during pregnancy unless really needed. Definitely keep your doctor in the loop.
A relative had this in pregnancy. They did a simple ultrasound to confirm and mostly managed with a low fat diet, so it wasnt expensive or scary. Just dont skip the follow ups so it doesnt flare up suddenly.
