Can heterotaxy be detected on sonography during pregnancy?
Someone in my family mentioned this condition and now im a little anxious about my upcoming anomaly scan. I want to understand if such things actually show up on the ultrasound itself. If anyone has gone through this kind of scan pls share.
From what i read, detailed level scans n fetal echocardiography are what doctors use for organ position type findings, the basic dating scan wont catch much. But this is specialist territory, so the accurate answer for ur case has to come from a fetal medicine doctor. Worth asking ur gynac for that referral.
I can imagine this is a worrying question beta. The right people to ask are the scan specialist n ur gynac, they can tell u exactly what the detailed sonography shows for this. Please dont sit with anxiety, just book that conversation with the doctor soon.
From what my doctor explained, many such organ position conditions can be picked up on detailed scans, esp the anomaly scan around 18-20 weeks n on a fetal echo. But its specialised, so a fetal medicine expert is the right person, not a routine scan center. Ask ur doctor for a referral.
This is really beyond what us moms can answer properly, please talk to a fetal medicine specialist. In my case anything heart or organ related was sent for a special detailed scan n fetal echo. They are the ones who can actually look for this. Dont rely on general chats for something this serious.
Honestly for a specific condition like this, the best answer comes from a fetal medicine doctor or your gynac, not a forum. These things are usually assessed on a targeted anomaly scan or echo by experts. Please ask for a proper referral, they will explain what can n cant be seen.
