Can home pregnancy test give false positive result?
I got a faint second line this morning and im honestly scared to get my hopes up. We've been trying a while and i keep wondering if it could be wrong somehow. How common is a false positive actually?
False positives are uncommon, usually if the kit is expired or you check it after an hour and see an evaporation line. A real positive line shows in the given time. Repeat with a fresh kit and confirm with a blood test if confused.
It can happen but its rare. My doctor said false positives can come from expired kits, certain fertility injections, or reading the result too late after the time window. A blood test or scan always confirms it for sure, so if in doubt get that done.
I drove myself mad over this, kept thinking maybe its false. Truth is false positives are pretty rare, false negatives are more common actually. Best way to stop the overthinking is just do a blood test, it gave me peace of mind.
Sometimes early loss or some medical conditions can give a confusing result too. I learnt the hard way not to rely only on the strip. If you got a positive, please go for a beta hCG blood test with your doctor to be certain.
