Got my reports and TSH is a bit high, never had thyroid issue before this. Im 12 weeks and gynac wants to recheck. Just curious if pregnancy itself can bring on thyroid problems, anyone went through this?
My report showed thyroid this pregnancy though I never had it before, so this question is exactly mine. Did it happen to others suddenly like this too? Feeling a bit worried but reading this helps.
Yes it can show up during pregnancy, mine was diagnosed in the first trimester through routine bloodwork. That is why they test TSH early on. Once on medicine and with regular checks it stays well controlled, dont worry.
My doctor said pregnancy puts extra demand on the thyroid so it can surface or worsen during this time. That is why TSH is part of the standard tests. If caught, it is easily managed with medication and monitoring.
