Im a little confused with how the weeks are counted. I know roughly when we conceived but the doctor seems to count from a different date. Can i go by the conception date or no? Pls help me understand.
I was so confused by this too! So basically the doctor adds those extra two weeks na? I kept thinking I was less far along than what they said. Glad someone asked this.
You can know the conception date roughly, but doctors don't count from there. They count from the first day of your last period, so the official weeks are actually about two weeks ahead of the conception date. My gynac explained this when my dates felt confusing, it's just the standard method everyone uses.
My app let me pick either last period date or conception date and it adjusted. But every report and scan goes by the last period method, so I stuck with that to avoid confusion. The early scan also confirmed my dates.
Technically conception is when it starts, but the medical way is to count from your last period date. That's why the doctor's weeks seem more than what you'd calculate from conception. Just go by your gynac's dating, it lines up with all your scans and due date.
