Can i do abdominal exercises while expexting pregnancy?
My husband and I are trying to conceive, and I usually do abdominal exercises as part of my routine. While expecting pregnancy, should I stop these exercises, or are they still safe to do?
I used to do light stretching and walking, but avoided core or ab exercises completely. Your body is preparing for a big change, so don't put extra pressure on your tummy. Just ask your doc what light workouts you can do.
I am in my second trimester and my doc told me strictly no heavy ab workouts or crunches. I only do light prenatal yoga now. Has anyone else been told to stop core exercises completely?
Please don't do any heavy abdominal exercises right now, sweetie. It's not safe to put that kind of pressure on your stomach when you are expecting. Stick to gentle walks and let your doctor guide you on safe exercises.
If you are expecting or trying, it is best to be very gentle with your body. Heavy abdominal exercises are usually not recommended because we want to avoid any strain. Please speak to your doctor first to see what is safest for your body.
Actually, lying flat on your back for abs can decrease blood flow to the baby after the first trimester. My gynac explicitly told me to avoid standard crunches or sit-ups. Instead, she suggested pelvic tilts or light walking after clearing it with her.
