Can i do household chores during pregnancy first trimester?
I'm in my first trimester, and everyone is telling me to rest a lot. Can I continue doing light household chores like cooking and dusting, or should I avoid them completely?
Light chores are absolutely fine and actually keep you active, but only if your pregnancy is normal and you don't have any complications like spotting. No lifting heavy furniture or buckets, and please listen to your body. If the gynac has advised bed rest, then complete rest is a must.
My pregnancy tracker app said active daily living is great, but first trimester is very crucial. Basic chores are fine, but keep checking your energy levels. If you have any back pain or pelvic pressure, stop immediately and check with your doc.
In my joint family, my mother-in-law literally banned me from doing anything heavy in the first trimester! They only allowed me to do very light things like chopping veggies or folding clothes. It's better to be safe and take help from family in these early months.
Look, light work is totally fine, I managed my first child and home during my second pregnancy. Just avoid heavy stretching, hanging clothes on high lines, and pushing heavy objects. If you feel even a little bit of cramps or fatigue, sit down immediately.
I was working full time and doing basic ghar ka kaam like dusting and cooking. Just don't lift heavy buckets or bend too much. If you feel tired, just leave the work and rest, nothing is more important than your health right now.
